Guns in the Big Easy
Isn't this like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys?
Not at all. It's about giving people back the Second Amendment rights stolen from them.
The original proverb is "Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys." The illegal seizure of weapons in New Orleans is exemplary of this problem.

Keith, I personally don't see the problem with giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys. Can Christian come up and visit this weekend? I have a gift for him.
After what happened in New Orleans...the failure of the government and the violence perpretrated by some of its citizens post-Katrina...I'm not sure that arming the population is the best strategy. Call me silly.
OK. Silly. In times like these Keith, I would encourage you to look at your bracelet and ask WWJD. Clearly, He would give them whiskey and guns. C'mon.
Remember: guns don't kill people...people with guns kill people. Arming a population devastated by poverty, nature and neglect won't bear any positive fruit.
It's not really our judgment call to return their weapons. The government isn't arming them; they are arming themselves. It's their right to do so and the government has no business telling them otherwise.
