The amazing thing is that here it is, 81 years later, and Chaney's Phantom continues to be one of the most frightening visions ever captured on film. He was one of the few actors of the twentieth century justifiably earned the label "genius".
A genius he was...and gone too soon. For another extremely old and frightening film, check out Nosferatu. I have it on DVD; I can loan it to you. Still the scariest-looking vampire ever filmed. Not the best vampire film (although its up there), but the best vampire.
One of the all-time greats. The absolute best Phantom. Forget that Andrew Lloyd Webber crap...this is the real deal.
